Financial Accountant I

Based in Southern California near the Los Angeles International Airport, The Marvin Group consists of Marvin Engineering (MEC), Marvin Test Solutions (MTS), and Marvin Land Systems (MLS). Marvin Engineering designs and produces military alternate mission equipment. Marvin Test Solutions designs and manufactures armament test equipment. Marvin Land Systems specializes in the design and build of power and thermal management systems. Our collaboration extends across a diverse array of programs and platforms, including major military prime contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon.
Scope : Financial Accountant II will report directly to the Controller and is responsible for providing support to the organization and its affiliated offices in the US and internationally as needed.
Key Responsibilities :
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Review GL codes and post customer invoices, receivers, and cash receipts.
- Prepare company month-end reports.
- Prepare weekly reports.
- Perform bank account reconciliations.
- Record and manage corporate fixed assets, ensuring accurate depreciation and asset tracking.
- Prepare month-end journal entries, accruals, and reconciled supporting schedules.
- Participate in year-end close activities.
- Work with procurement department historical prices and trending analysis.
- Prepare and manage accounting schedules.
- Prepare and file 1099s.
- Calculate and file state sales tax returns.
- Calculate sales commission for management review and approval.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements / automation to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the reporting process.
- Assist with audit preparation and financial reports.
- Back up to other accounting team members as needed.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly financial reporting processes.
- Other duties and projects as needed.
Required Skills :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.2-4 years of experience in the accounting field.Proficiency in all Microsoft Excel and Word applications.Bilingual read and write English and Spanish, preferred.Manufacturing industry experience, preferred.Knowledge of consolidation accounting concepts are a definite plus.Experience working with ERP systems, preferred.Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.Strong organizational skills.Integrity and adherence to strict confidentiality.Strong work ethics, hardworking, fast learner.Attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to multitask.Job is on-site.
