Accounting Manager
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the organization's accounting functions, which may include cost accounting, general accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. The position ensures the integrity of financial information, oversees reporting processes, and supports both internal and external audits. The Accounting Manager provides leadership to accounting staff and ensures compliance with established policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
Essential Functions :
- Directs daily accounting operations include accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Prepares, reviews, and analyzes financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (or relevant standards).
- Oversees month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
Compliance & Controls :
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as internal company policies.Develops, implements, and monitors internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain data integrity.Coordinates external audits and acts as primary point of contact for auditors.Budgeting & Forecasting :
Assists in developing budgets and financial forecasts, providing variance analysis and actionable recommendations.Monitors departmental and organizational spending to ensure alignment with financial goals.Leadership & Team Development :
Supervises, trains, and mentors accounting staff, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and professional growth.Delegates tasks and manages workload distribution across the accounting team.Process Improvement & Systems Management :
Evaluates and enhances accounting processes, implementing technology or workflow improvements.Oversees accounting software systems, ensuring proper use and integration with other business systems.Cross Department Collaboration :
Partners with operations, HR, procurement, and senior leadership to provide financial insights and support strategic decisions.Communicates complex financial data in clear, actionable terms to non-financial stakeholders.Strategic Contribution :
Provides management with key financial analysis to support growth initiatives and risk management.Recommends policies and procedures to improve overall financial performance.Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.Minimum of six (6) years of progressive accounting experience.Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).Demonstrated leadership ability with experience in supervising and developing staff.Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate work within established deadlines.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.Physical Demands and Work Environment :
The job requires regularly lifting / pushing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting / pushing more than 50 pounds or exerting heavy force, in a wide disparity of environmental conditions. The job involves standing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, etc.
