Job Summary

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking a qualified adjunct instructor to teach Manufacturing Processes Lab, a hands-on laboratory course that introduces students to machine tools, manufacturing processes, and their practical applications. This course supports the accompanying lecture by providing experiential learning opportunities that reinforce key concepts through calculations, problem-solving exercises, and hands-on activities.The instructor will guide students in operating manufacturing equipment, applying safety procedures, and understanding the fundamental principles of manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will foster a collaborative learning environment, emphasize the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical applications, and help students develop problem-solving and technical skills essential for modern manufacturing.

  • Deliver hands-on lab sessions that reinforce manufacturing processes and lecture topics.
  • Instruct students on the safe operation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
  • Develop and grade lab assignments, ensuring alignment with course objectives.
  • Maintain a safe lab environment and ensure equipment functionality.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to students to foster skill development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with machine tools, manufacturing equipment, and processes.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence and student engagement.
  • Desired Qualifications

  • A master’s degree (or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (or a bachelor’s degree with significant industry experience).
  • Previous teaching or training experience in a laboratory or classroom setting.
  • Industry experience in manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing practices, including CNC machining and automation.
