Position Summary

The Accounting Analyst III supports multiple functional areas within the Finance organization-including General Accounting, Banking, Projects and Assets-providing strong accounting, analytical, and reporting expertise across Sutter Health's financial systems. This role is critical to ensuring accuracy during the Workday transition and maintaining the integrity of enterprise-wide financial data.

The ideal candidate has a solid accounting foundation, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to interpret and communicate complex financial information effectively. This position operates in a collaborative environment that values precision, accountability, and cross-functional partnership.

Key Responsibilities

Perform and oversee accounting activities across general ledger, banking, projects, and fixed assets functions.

Prepare and maintain financial statements, journal entries, and reconciliations for monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.

Interpret financial results, identify trends or variances, and communicate findings to leadership.

Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and external reporting requirements.

Support ongoing Workday ERP implementation by validating data, assisting in testing, and contributing to process improvements.

Develop and refine reporting structures; provide input on system enhancements or reporting tools.

Mentor and guide team members on accounting procedures, reporting standards, and audit needs.

Collaborate with reimbursement, finance, and ERP project teams to ensure data integrity and consistent reporting.

Qualifications

Education :

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required (equivalent experience accepted).

Experience :

Minimum 5 years of recent, relevant accounting or financial analysis experience-preferably in a healthcare or multi-entity environment.

Skills and Knowledge :

Strong accounting foundation with deep understanding of GAAP.

Experience with fixed asset accounting, banking reconciliations, and project accounting.

Analytical and detail-oriented, with ability to interpret complex data and identify key insights.

Advanced Excel proficiency required (pivot tables, lookups, macros a plus).

Strong communication skills; able to clearly explain financial reports to non-financial audiences.

Experience supporting or working within ERP environments (Workday strongly preferred).

Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
