Overview
This is a project-based, hands-on engineering role focused on supporting operations and engineering teams (mechanics, welders, machinists) across diverse initiatives. It is strictly on-site, with no remote work option.
Base pay range
$36.00 / hr - $38.00 / hr
Responsibilities
- Conduct Safety Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Develop and maintain detailed work instructions for new and existing processes.
- Train experimental mechanics and create training programs.
- Lead problem-solving efforts targeting safety, ergonomics, efficiency, and quality.
- Collaborate with operations leads and engineering managers on cost-saving projects and process improvements.
- Provide technical support for manufacturing operations.
- Coordinate machine tooling and equipment purchases
- Lead capital projects for new tooling and fixtures.
- Potential involvement in fixture, jig, and test equipment design
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, Illinois EPA , and internal safety regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering (minimum).8+ years of experience preferred; candidates with a master's degree may be considered with slightly less experience.Must-Have Skills
CommunicationAbility to engage with mechanics, engineers, and external partners.
Lean Six SigmaExperience in lean methodologies is highly valued.
Mechanical AptitudeAbility to visualize and execute hands-on solutions in a dynamic shop environment.
