Job Description

Nebraska Department of Transportation / Business Technology Support Division is seeking a dedicated Application Developer to join our team of performance-driven professionals in helping to build the best of applications in support of NDOTs business units. NDOT utilizes Agile development methodology.

Responsibilities

• Perform front-end, middle-tier and back-end development.
• Analyze, program and test as needed; maintain legacy applications (minor new development) in Micro Focus Cobol, Cobol and CICS that interact with the Department's Information Systems.
• Assist with capturing business requirements, design, system architecture and development.
• Work as part of a software development team in the implementation of projects.
• Troubleshoot problems and provide support on existing products and services.
• Explore and gain a thorough understanding of the business.
• Maintain knowledge of the most recent COBOL coding practices.
• Experience with SQL utilizing DB2 (accessed by programs), writing queries in QMF and creating tables.
• Experience with JCL and job scheduling.
• Follow Department standards, methodologies, principles and processes; strong verbal and written communication skills; regular and reliable attendance.
