About The Position

Job Title : Cardiac Anesthesiologist

Location : North Central Iowa

Employment Type : Full-Time (Perm)

Position Overview :

Join a collaborative team of 7 physicians and 12 CRNAs providing anesthesia services at a progressive hospital and ASC in North Central Iowa. This role focuses on cardiac cases but includes general case coverage when cardiac surgeries are not scheduled. The practice supports a growing cardiac surgery program in a hospital-based setting.

Job Responsibilities :

Provide anesthesia services for Cardiac, Thoracic, Vascular, Neuro, Ortho, Pediatric, OB, and general cases

Cardiac call coverage : Monday–Thursday

General weekend call : 6 weekends per year + 1 holiday per year

Oversee and supervise CRNAs

Step in for general cases if no cardiac procedures are scheduled

Occasional coverage at the ASC if a physician is required

EMR : Currently Cerner (transitioning to Epic); some documentation still on paper

Case & Facility Details :

Average Cases per Day : ~1 cardiac case / day (not daily), 5–7 general cases

Operating Rooms : 8

Trauma Level : Level II ER (no pain clinic)

Patient Demographics : Adolescent through geriatric. Complex pediatric cases referred out

Schedule : Weekdays :

Mon / Wed / Fri : 6 : 30 AM – 3 : 00 PM

Tue / Thu : 7 : 00 AM – 3 : 30 PM

Must stay late if cardiac or general cases extend

Weekends :

No regular weekend shift

Call : Cardiac call Mon–Thu

6 general weekend calls + 1 holiday / year

Call pay for in-hospital cardiac procedures performed while on call

Job Requirements

Candidate Requirements :

(All required at name clear unless noted)

Board Certified or Board Eligible (within 3 years) in Anesthesiology – REQUIRED

Fellowship-trained in Cardiac Anesthesia – Preferred

TEE Certified (must read, interpret, and bill – not just place probe) – REQUIRED

Active Iowa License, CSR, or IMLC (or willing to obtain) – REQUIRED

DEA – Verbal confirmation required

BLS, ACLS, PALS – REQUIRED

COVID vaccination – REQUIRED

Must not have applied directly to Trinity Health

Total Compensation Package : $520,000- $575,000 (salary + benefits)

Sign-on Bonus : $50,000 (with 3-year commitment)
