HIM Technician

Pride Health is hiring a HIM Technician for one of its clients in California.

This is an 8-week contract with the possibility of an extension with competitive pay and benefits.

Location – Saint Helena, California (94574)

Pay range - $28 - $32 per hour.

Length of assignment – 8-week contract (possibility to extend)

Shift – Day Shift M-F 8 AM to 5 PM.

Job Summary

Prepares medical records for scanning efficiency according to established procedures, guidelines, and productivity standards. Retrieves and files old paper records required for patient care, and assists with the release of information services. Interviews mothers for birth certificate information and enters the information into the electronic birth certificate system. Reviews upended transcription queues and releases to PowerChart.

The majority of functionality would be uploaded to Cerner and Varian. Same Skill sets for HIM, if they have some HIM scanning or MA experience.

Job Duties

• Retrieve and reconcile medical records from nursing units; prepare records for efficient scanning.
• Execute all steps of the document scanning process, including quality control and system upload.
• Maintain scanning equipment and troubleshoot minor issues to ensure continuous operation.
• Interview mothers and enter birth information into the Electronic Birth Certificate (EBC) system.
• Process fetal death certificates and communicate with county officials as needed.
• Assist with the release of information (ROI) process, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
• Track and file charts accurately using chart tracking software; retrieve records from storage as needed.
• Conduct chart audits and assist with physician deficiency analysis and documentation corrections.
• Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding medical records and documentation.
• Compile and report department data; support phones and communication across departments.
• Collaborate with other hospital departments to ensure timely access to patient records.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
