Job Overview\nWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Health Department Registered Nurse to join our team. This position is the Health Department Officer for Brown County Kansas and involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients from various settings of community health . The ideal candidate will possess a diverse skill set and experience in multiple areas of nursing, ensuring comprehensive patient assessment and management.\n\nResponsibilities\n
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans for the WIC program.\n
- Administer immunizations and treatments as prescribed.\n
- Collaborate with co-health departments on services offered to communities.\n
- Assist with the growth of services offered by the health department\n
- Collaborate with local schools and other healthcare entities in area for community needs assessments.\n
- Perform health education trainings for the community to include schools, senior centers and health department.\n
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic care for patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes.\n
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and NCQA standards.\n
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cure for patient management.\n
- Educate patients and their families on health management, medication administration, and disease prevention strategies.\n
- Participate in triage and emergency response and disaster preparedness situations as needed.\n
- Collaborating with the State of Kansas on investigations for epidemiology cases located in the county.\n\nExperience\nCandidates should have a strong background in nursing with experience in various healthcare settings. Preferred qualifications include : \n
- Experience with teaching patients about their health needs\n
- Proficiency in phlebotomy, specimen collection / processing, and diagnostic evaluations\n
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and infection control practices\n
- Experience with EMR systems.\n
