INTRODUCTION:

POSITION

The LACCD is accepting applications for Adjunct Graphic Design positions at our colleges for the 2026 Academic School Year. The purpose of this posting is to create a pool of qualified applicants so that when there is an actual opening at a one of our colleges, the college can then begin their review process by reviewing those applicants. If you have applied to previous pools in this discipline, you will need to apply to this pool to continue to be considered.

The LACCD is seeking dynamic, motivated and diverse candidates for part-time faculty positions to engage and educate our students. Successful candidates will collaborate, communicate and work as professionals with students, staff, faculty and administrators. Applicants with a demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population are strongly encouraged to apply.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Planning, developing, and implementing course curricula, as well as updating course materials and the course outlines of record;

• Contributing to the development and assessment of student learning outcomes;

• Completing and submitting required documents in a timely manner;

• Participating in mandated projects, such as Program Review;

• Participating in department and campus committees and activities;

• Performing other academic duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirements below as described in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty in the California Community Colleges Handbook for teaching a Graphic Design course:

• Bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience; OR

• Associate's degree and six years of professional experience.

• AND a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT COVID 19 VACCINATION:

Health: A medical certificate indicating fitness to instruct or associate with students is required at the applicant's expense after selection from an eligible list and prior to employment.

Pursuant to LACCD Board of Trustee's Policy 2900, all students and employees must be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption. LACCD employees are required to provide their vaccination status in compliance with the LACCD Board of Trustees' policy. Newly hired employees will be required to provide their vaccination status prior to starting a position or, at the latest, by their position start date.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• An earned master's degree or higher in Graphic Design and/or a Studio Art discipline.

• Experience in art-oriented motion graphics, web design and animation, for internet and game design.

• Commitment to maintaining a current knowledge of recent developments in Graphic Design.

• Experience teaching Graphic Design in a community college or other college setting.

• Demonstration of professional activity through exhibitions, presentations, publications or other digital media applications.

• Experience or interest in web enhancing and/or teaching online courses and ability to use technology.

• Commitment to execute extracurricular responsibilities within the department and college.

• Ability to set specific learning outcomes and objectives and measure achieved results.

• Success at initiating, executing and following-up of projects in a timely manner.

• Commitment to a career in a diverse, student-centered department and college.

• Knowledge of equity-centered educational research on best practices to support the success of Latinx, Black, Indigenous, and other students of color.

• Ability to create a safe and welcoming environment for all students, including those with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.

• Experience with best practices in tutoring and teaching related to student success and equity.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Excellent organizational skills.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various academic departments and service areas at the college.

• Other duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION

The salary schedule for adjunct instructors begins at $86.85 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.32 per hour for classroom assignments. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
