Planning Specialist
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Planning Specialist is responsible for supporting service line planning projects, conducting market and competitor overviews, maintaining service line dashboards, and providing ad hoc strategy analytic support. This position will support the Director, Strategic Planning & Business Development on a myriad of projects, which are quantitative, qualitative, and analytic in nature.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the service line strategic planning process in collaboration with VPs, service line Directors, and physician leadership.
Provides meaningful analyses and business cases for presentations to be presented to executive leadership.
Develops graphs, charts, or other pictorial ways to explain how the information will influence the specific project or business plan and / or strategy.
Develops business plans, including financial pro formas, to justify new strategic initiatives for a variety of new business, strategic alignment and margin improvement opportunities.
Assesses inpatient, outpatient and new program growth opportunities through in-depth market analyses using a multitude of internal and external data sources.
Coordinates and aligns project objectives and outcomes with the overall strategic mission of the organization.
Conducts ad hoc research, external market intelligence, competitor analyses, and reviews of national trends to provide information and strategic direction to the organization.
Provides the staffing and facilitation functions on various hospital committees and strategy work groups.
Demonstrates cooperation and collaboration across a variety of stakeholders to support innovation and change.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Public Health or other health care related field.
2-3 years of progressive experience in health care strategic planning, business development, physician relations, operational, or administration areas.
Previous pediatric healthcare leadership experience preferred.
Analytical skills necessary to organize, analyze, and draw out relevant conclusions and information.
A self-starter requiring minimal day-to-day oversight of responsibilities and priorities.
Shows a creative, adaptable, and innovative thinking style.
Strong ability to prioritize, meet timelines and expectations across multiple organizational stakeholders.
Highly detail oriented and organized.
Demonstrates proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word to develop extensive spreadsheets and presentation graphics.
Understands the varying data sources and market intelligence available
Exhibits clinical knowledge to understand and evaluate patient- and physician-specific information, including ICD, DRG, and CPT coding, as well as other diagnostic and procedural terminology.
Has working knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements (e.g. HIPAA, Stark Laws, COPN).
Upholds high integrity and treats all people with respect and dignity.
WORKING CONDITIONS
