Reports to : CEO

Location :   Irvine, California

Scope : US parent + German subsidiary. Multi-entity, multi-currency.

Role

Own global accounting and reporting. Deliver a fast, accurate close and consolidated statements. Build controls, manage audits, and keep Kardion compliant in the US and Germany. Lead the team and modernize processes and systems to support scale.

Responsibilities

• Close & consolidation : Run month-end and quarter-end close within 5 business days. Prepare US GAAP consolidations, eliminations, and FX remeasurement / translation.
• Financial reporting : Issue income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and management reporting with variance analysis.
• Policies & controls : Author and enforce accounting policies. Design a SOX-lite control environment suited to a scale-up.
• Compliance — United States : US GAAP; revenue (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), stock-based comp (ASC 718). Coordinate federal and state income / franchise filings with advisors; sales / use tax; payroll taxes (FICA / FUTA); 1099 information returns.
• Compliance — Germany : Statutory accounts under HGB; VAT / Umsatzsteuer returns and EC Sales Listings; payroll / Lohnsteuer and social security; Körperschaftsteuer and Gewerbesteuer coordination with local advisors.
• Intercompany & transfer pricing : Maintain TP policy, intercompany agreements, and settlements; ensure documentation supports tax positions.
• Treasury & cash : 13-week cash forecast, working-capital optimization, banking oversight, FX exposure management, and hedge coordination where appropriate.
• Audit & external advisors : Lead year-end US group audit and German statutory audit. Manage tax and payroll vendors.
• Systems & process : Own ERP and close tech stack. Drive automation, data quality, and workflow standards across entities.
• Business partnership : Provide timely insights to the CFO and leadership. Support budgeting, forecasting, and board materials.

Travel : Up to 20% domestic and international

Physical Demands : Regular use of keyboard / computer and office activities; occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
