Position Summary :
Under the direction of the Maintenance Foreman or Manager, the Welder / Fabricator plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation and upkeep of plant equipment. Primary responsibilities include performing welding tasks to repair and maintain machinery, conducting routine inspections and collaborating with the maintenance team to enhance overall equipment functionality.
Essential Job Functions :
- Executes welding tasks using various techniques, such as arc welding, MIG welding and TIG welding, to repair and fabricate components in the foundry. Will cut, weld, braze and fabricate work to size and shape.
- Conducts routine inspections and assessments of foundry machinery to identify and address potential issues. Performs preventative maintenance to ensure equipment longevity and reduce down-time.
- Reads and understands prints, sketches, instruction manuals, welding diagrams, symbols, and other materials to complete assigned tasks by the foreman and / or preventative maintenance scheduler.
- Collaborates with other maintenance team members to troubleshoot problems and develop effective solutions. Communicates effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate maintenance activities.
- Adheres to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a secure working environment. Identifies and reports any safety hazards of concerns promptly.
- Maintains accurate and detailed records of welding activities, repairs, and maintenance tasks. Completes the necessary documentation for work performed.
- Ensures the quality and integrity of welded components by conducting inspections and adhering to industry standards.
- Handles and transports materials and tools required for welding and maintenance tasks in a safe manner and prevents damage to equipment within reasonable ability.
- Utilizes multiple instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and all types of welding equipment to complete assigned tasks.
- Requires the ability to lift to 25 pounds without assistance and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Qualifications :
Proven experience as a welder, preferably in a foundry or heavy industrial environment.Proficient in various welding techniques, including arc welding, MIG and TIG welding.Familiarity with equipment and machinery.Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, drawings, or blueprints.Welding certification is desirable.Education :
High School Diploma or equivalent, or relevant experience in lieu of education.Welding certification or relevant vocational training.Journeyman or apprenticeship training and / or industry courses in welding techniques from organizations such as BOCES or MACNY are very desirable.Pay and Benefits :
