Overview
Black & Veatch has an exciting Water Resources Engineer opening focused on stormwater planning and design, flood control, condition assessment of water assets, and water supply planning. This hybrid position can be based out of our San Marcos, Los Angeles, Murrieta, or Irvine, CA offices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of water resources projects for services including planning, modeling and / or design of stormwater improvements (open channels, storm or combined sewer systems, and stormwater detention / retention facilities).
- Plan and / or design green infrastructure and sustainable watershed measures, including structural BMPs.
- Plan and / or design flood mitigation improvements (dams, levees, reservoirs, pump stations).
- Engage in erosion and sediment control planning and design, including SWPPP development.
- Coordinate regulatory compliance and permitting efforts for USACE, FEMA, and other environmental permit submittals.
- Provide business development leadership to identify and capture the above services and build client relationships to drive growth.
- Lead execution of the services and act as Project Manager; interface with partners to leverage new technologies and approaches.
- Provide technical mentorship to professionals and identify, recruit, and supervise early-career professionals.
- Support the development and growth of the Planning business by identifying water supply, water and wastewater masterplanning, asset management, and condition assessment opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
11+ years of water resources planning and design experience.Experience developing and executing water resource planning and design projects.Proficiency with one or more of the following : HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, EPA / XP-SWMM, InfoWorks, EFDC, CFD, ArcGIS, Cityworks / Lucity or other Asset Management / CMMS systems.Experience with regulatory requirements and procedures.Drive client-facing / business development effort.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.Minimum of 5 years related work experience.Certifications
Professional Engineer (P.E.), California.Work Environment / Physical Demands
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment. Majority of work is office-based; some site visits may be required, which may involve navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
Salary and other details
Annual compensation range : $125,879.00 - $210,220.00 (local to job location).
