As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) you will be assisting individuals with disabilities in daily living, teaching life skills, facilitating community integration, and providing personal care like cooking meals, cleaning the home, laundry, bathing/dressing, focusing on independence via support plans, with requirements including empathy, patience, physical stamina, and relevant certifications (CPR/First Aid).
Key Responsibilities
  • Personal Care: Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene.
  • Skill Development: Teaching self-care, cooking, cleaning, and money management.
  • Activity Support: Planning and participating in recreational, social, and community activities.
  • Behavior Support: Implementing behavior plans to reduce challenging behaviors and build skills.
  • Transportation: Driving clients to appointments, shopping, or community events.
  • Documentation: Maintaining records and communicating with supervisors/families.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
  • Empathy & Patience: Compassionate and sensitive to client emotional needs.
  • Communication: Strong listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliability: Dependable and trustworthy.
  • Physical Ability: Capable of lifting (up to 50 lbs) and physical tasks.
  • Certifications: CPR/First Aid required; medication administration, HIPAA training.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
