Compensation : The starting pay for this position is $22.07 / hr. After successful completion of a one-year trial period with OTRD, the rate of pay may increase to $22.73 / hr.
Job Description : Basic Purpose
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving the operation of various types of equipment or machinery in performing various maintenance or construction activities, or in completing other functions involving the use of equipment or machinery.

Level Descriptor
Levels are distinguished based on the complexity of assigned duties, the level of expertise required for completion of work assignments, and the responsibility assigned for the supervision of others.
This is the specialist level of this job family where incumbents are assigned responsibilities involving the operation of more complicated types of equipment and machinery or perform highly skilled or specialized operations with lighter equipment. This includes the operation of heavy equipment such as a bulldozer, power shovel, crane, semi-trailer tractor, or similar equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of the operation and maintenance of heavy, complicated power equipment.
Skill is required to operate heavy complicated power equipment.
Ability is required to follow oral and written instructions; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Education and Experience
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of two (2) years of experience operating and maintaining medium-to-heavy power equipment or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The substitution of education can be made for only one (1) year of the required experience.
Special Requirements
Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with this position. Some agencies may accept completion of vocational technical school training in the operation of heavy equipment. Some positions may require possession of a valid Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License, class A or B with appropriate endorsements referenced in 49 CFR 383.93, at the time of appointment. Applicants must take and pass a drug test prior to appointment. Some positions may require the experience to be in the operation of a heavy-duty truck tractor. Some agencies may have determined positions in this job family to be safety sensitive as defined by?63 O.S. 427.8.
