In this role, you will lead small capital projects (less than $5MM) within our North America operations business in our diverse Project Resource and Outage Support (PROS) Group and support strategic planning, turnaround planning, and turnaround execution. This team provides specialized services and additional capacity for infrequent events to operational assets such as Hydrogen (H2, HyCO) and Air Separation (ASU) plants.
This role is located in Gonzales, LA and has expected travel of 15–25%. The position offers a hybrid schedule with time split between office, site, and remote work. Candidates should have strong project management experience, preferably in an industrial environment, and be self-directed with a solid understanding of plant operations and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead assigned capital projects (standalone and outage-related) and manage engineering, design, and construction resources.
- Develop estimates, funding documents, schedules, and forecasts for plant-executed projects within SAP.
- Ensure projects undergo proper process hazard reviews and ORIs, and complete recommendations promptly.
- Adhere to inherent process safety standards in all project designs.
- Provide field supervision and support during project execution.
- Manage project safety and ensure compliance with Air Products safety standards.
- Maintain project budgets and schedules.
- Ensure projects meet operability needs of the customer.
- Conduct Safety Kickoff Meetings and daily toolbox meetings.
- Participate in Safe Work Permit issuance and JSA reviews.
- Report incidents immediately and ensure Emergency Action Plans are submitted.
- Participate in Safety Sampling and Critical Safety Audits during outages.
- Attend and contribute to monthly Safety Meetings.
Required Qualifications
Significant experience in project engineering or project management, preferably in industrial environments.Experience with small capital projects and plant operations.Strong safety culture and ability to lead safety meetings and audits.Familiarity with cost estimation and SAP systems.Comfortable working in plant environments and managing multiple projects.TWIC and passport eligibility; ability to pass refinery background checks.Flexible work schedule availability (e.g., 5x8, 4x10).Willingness to travel within Louisiana (13 days on, 1 day off during outages).Preferred Qualifications
