Position Overview
The Staff Accountant serves as a key member of the organization's financial processes. This position performs a variety of tasks to support the following business areas : accounts receivable, accounts payable, banking, and credit cards. The Staff Accountant supports the daily operations of the accounting department, monitors and analyzes financial data and reports, and ensures compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the daily operations of the accounting department including :
Month- and end-year processes
Accounts payable / receivableCreate estimates and utilize progress invoicing in QuickBooks EnterpriseUse production tracking system to invoice clients and enter corresponding subcontractor expenseExecute weekly, bi-weekly, and / or monthly invoices for clientsComply with all multi-state sales tax regulations when applicableAssist with all required city, state, and local sales tax filingsMonitor AR aging and proactively engage with clientsEnter vendor bills & credit card statements to include proper job allocation costs adhering to GAAP requirementsProcess credit card receipts and upload credit card transactions monthlyScan all vendor payments and backup files weekly (ensure backup adheres to audit requirements)Create vendor purchase orders as neededProcess vendor bill payments weekly with the approval of the ControllerCash receiptsGeneral ledgerFixed asset activityBanking activity (ACH, wire, deposits)Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statementsCoordinate and complete annual auditsProvide recommendations to improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions; support and adhere to proper accounting methods, policies, and principlesEstablish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactionsMeet financial accounting objectivesPerform other related duties as necessary or assignedRequired Skills / Abilities
Bachelor or Associate degree in accounting plus two or more years of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties.5+ years of previous accounting experience required.Ability to perform accounting functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.Strong customer service orientation; exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to develop strong trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results.Experience supporting initiatives and activities associated with organizational growth / restructuring.Outstanding judgment and decision-making abilities under ambiguous circumstances; ability to solve problems with a tactful and resourceful approach.Superior project management skills and time management skills with the ability to work quickly and adapt to a rapidly changing environment and manage competing priorities.High level of integrity and adherence to maintaining confidentiality.Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and accounting applications such as QuickBooks and other ERP accounting systems.Positive, solutions-oriented attitude with strong analytical, and innovative problem-solving skills; ability to organize and prioritize tasks to completion in a fast-paced environment while ensuring meticulous attention to detail and data entry accuracy.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required; ability to clearly, professionally, and effectively communicate across all levels and stakeholders of the organization.Experience in telecommunications, construction, and / or manufacturing industries preferred.The selection process includes a comprehensive background investigation.Employees in this position are subject to Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) and Alcohol testing.Prior Paycom payroll experience preferred but not required.Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on standard office equipment such as a computer and keyboard.May experience long hours in a stationary position of sitting and / or standing.Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times and adjust or move objects in all directions.Benefits
