Product Engineer III (R&D)

Summary

Designs and tests electro-mechanical components and systems for new and innovative machines, components, prototypes, and devices in accordance with internal and external requirements. This role includes mentoring junior or less experienced product engineers and reviewing the output and work of other team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for technical design (component specification, selection, modeling, and CAD design), development (prototyping and testing), and certification (agency and regulatory requirements) of systems and components.
• Initiate and implement new product designs and / or design improvements, including the development and execution of reliability test plans.
• Perform / coordinate product testing and validation.
• Communicate with customers and vendors on requirements and materials needed for project completion.
• Provide technical support to product engineering, sales, and manufacturing departments.
• Coordinate and manage the integration of new designs into the product commercialization process.
• Lead and / or interact with cross-functional teams to accomplish assigned tasks, within schedule and budget, with minimal / no supervision.
• Facilitate and participate in project reviews and meetings.
• Mentor, guide, and assist in the development and training of junior product engineers.
• Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
