Medical Assistant Intern

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join Grand Itasca as a Paid Medical Assistant Intern! This paid training provides interns the opportunity to develop technical skills, build confidence in their abilities, and better prepare them for their future as a Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant training course is intended to educate interns and prepare for future employment at Grand Itasca upon successful completion of the internship program! Grand Itasca will pay for the cost of the Medical Assistant course and provide you with wages while taking the onsite Medical Assistant course. The program is approximately 12-16 weeks in duration and includes in-person and virtual course work in addition to clinical experiences at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital. Upon completion on the Medical Assistant course, interns must pass a Medical Assistant proctored exam.

Upon successful completion of the Medical Assistant Exam, Interns will transition into a benefit eligible Medical Assistant position! Must be willing to commit to employment with Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital for at least 1 year after start date.

About the Position

  • Temporary 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period) will last approximately 6 months

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Health Unit Coordinator, or US military corpsman / medic training required. Current registration or certification preferred.
  • Six months' experience working as a Visit Facilitator at Grand Itasca preferred.
  • Must be able to complete onsite Medical Assistant course within 16 weeks, including both online and clinical requirements.
  • Must be able to pass offsite Medical Assistant proctored exam within three months of completing Medical Assistant course.
  • Minimum of one year of customer service experience required. Healthcare-related experience preferred.
  • Must have basic computer proficiency and be comfortable using electronic health records.
  • Demonstrates ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission and values.
  • Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
