What Can I Expect as a Behavior Technician?

Behavior technicians work in our highly specialized programs where we serve individuals with exceptional levels of interfering behavioral and mental health needs. These individuals may have a history of high-risk behaviors, crisis situations, and multiple failed placements.

These homes have been extensively modified to support daily behaviors and ensure the safety of residents through consistent interventions.

In this role, you will implement Behavior Support Plans under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst, work closely with a small caseload (max 3 individuals), and support clients in developing essential life skills. You will assist with de-escalation, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure a safe and respectful environment for all clients.

Daily Responsibilities Include :

  • Facilitate Individualized Treatment Plans : Implement personalized treatment plans to address the unique needs and goals of each individual.
  • Promote Skill Acquisition : Encourage and support the development of new skills through structured activities and guidance.
  • One-on-One Interaction : Provide focused, individualized attention to enhance personal growth and development.
  • Ensure Quality Care : Deliver high standards of care, ensuring the well-being and comfort of individuals.
  • Meal Preparation : Cook meals according to dietary requirements, ensuring nutrition and dietary preferences are met.
  • Attend Appointments : Accompany individuals to medical and other appointments, ensuring their needs are met.
  • Complete Documentation : Maintain accurate and timely records of care and activities.
  • Ensure Cleanliness : Keep the living environment clean, safe, and organized.
  • 24 / 7 Accessibility : Be available for round-the-clock care, ensuring continuous support.
  • Administer Medications : Safely administer prescribed medications, ensuring correct dosages and schedules.

  • Qualifications :
  • Required :
  • o High school diploma or GED.

    o Must be 18 years of age or older.

    o Valid driver’s license.

    o 3 years previous experience working in high acuity environments with intense behaviors

    o Registered with the state of Missouri as a Behavior Technician

    o Compassionate and patient demeanor when working with individuals who have mental illness and co-occurring disorders.

    o Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to physical aggression and infectious disease.

    o Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).

    o Ability to work with and care for children with developmental disabilities and co-occurring challenges.
