Facilities Service Worker - Family FunPlex

Job Opportunity

The Facility Service Worker position is an essential part of the Department of Culture, Parks, and Recreation. This position is responsible for facility cleaning and maintenance at one of six CPRD facilities that may include the UCCC, Recreation Center, Senior Center, Family Funplex, Ice Haus, or Rodarte Center. In addition, this position is expected to communicate effectively with their supervisor and various CPRD staff for setup and tear down of events. This position primarily works at the Family FunPlex.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills:

• Knowledge of cleaning and maintenance as it relates to public buildings required.
• Demonstrated customer service skills required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to understand written and verbal instructions required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs required.
• One year of related experience preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Grounds keeping/landscaping experience preferred.

Essential Functions:

• Directly responsible for overseeing the cleaning and maintenance of one CPRD facility.
• Operate small equipment such as buffers, vacuums, extractors, and lifts.
• Provide general maintenance and repairs including light replacement, painting, and equipment maintenance for fitness equipment.
• Assist in deep cleaning projects at multiple facilities during closures.
• Communicate with supervisor all custodial and cleaning supply needs.
• Provide grounds keeping, snow removal, and landscaping for facility grounds and mini golf area.

Customer Service and Event Setup:

• Provide setup and tear down for facilities events.
• Demonstrate a high level of internal and external customer service.
• Communicate effectively with staff to ensure event needs are met.

General Knowledge:

• Effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and public.
• Handle difficult situations with facility guests with patience, good judgement, and diplomacy.
• Operate small equipment such as buffers, vacuums, extractors, and lifts.
• Attend safety training sessions.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Working Environment:

• Frequent interruptions and heavy public contact;
• Required to work weekdays, nights, weekends, evenings and some holidays;
• Work can be in adverse weather or extremely cold conditions and may be exposed to dust, fumes and chemicals.

Physical Requirements:

• Manual labor, prolonged standing and walking;
• Strength and stamina enough to walk, stand, stretch, bend, lift or carry up to 50 lbs;
• Manual dexterity enough to complete daily work such as equipment repair, hand tools, drive and operate motor vehicles;
• Operate vacuums, buffers, floor scrubbers, extractors, and hydraulic lifts.
