Job description

Love being the behind-the-scenes hero who makes everything click?

Join our small but mighty team of four who are passionate about empowering the next generation of communication sciences and disorders professionals. We're crafty, scrappy, and nimble when it comes to delivering our best to our members. We're looking for a Part Time Admin Assistant who thrives on organization, problem-solving, and creating seamless experiences for over 10,000 National NSSLHA members.

Every day you will :

  • Be the first friendly voice students hear when they need help - turning confusion into clarity and frustration into "thank you so much!"
  • Create the systems and processes that make everyone's life easier (because good organization is basically magic)
  • Support exciting projects from ASHA Convention logistics to member renewals to data dashboards that keep our community thriving

To thrive in this role, you need to :

  • Have 1-3 years of administrative experience with a track record of juggling multiple priorities like a pro
  • Bring strong tech skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, CRM databases) and the curiosity to learn new tools
  • Love solving problems creatively and take pride in getting the details right
  • Communicate warmly and clearly, whether you're composing an email or answering a worried student's call
  • You'll be joining a mission-driven organization that gets it. We believe that exceptional administrative support creates ripple effects - when systems work smoothly, students can access opportunities faster, chapters run better, and everyone wins. We're a team that celebrates both the big victories and the small wins, appreciates a well-organized spreadsheet as much as a successful event, and knows that the "little things" make a huge difference in students' lives.

    I. Purpose

This position directly supports the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association's (National NSSLHA) mission to inspire, empower, and support communication sciences and disorders students by delivering exceptional experiences through comprehensive member services and responsive customer service to students, members, chapters, academic programs, and the National Office team. This role provides essential operational support that enables students to fully access critical opportunities and resources that drive their success.

    II. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage member services, bulk dues membership processing, giveaway fulfillment, account updates and adjustments, and member renewal and prospect follow-up activities. Responding promptly to telephone and email contacts.
  • Investigate inquiries thoroughly, apply initiative and creativity in troubleshooting and resolving problems, and report service trends to supervisors and the team.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial processing of product and program expenditures, scholarship payments, and event expenses to enable seamless execution of initiatives and maintain fiscal accountability.
  • Prepare / enhance presentations, social media templates, spreadsheets, letters, certificates, and other documents.
  • Develop and maintain procedures and processes, set up filing systems, and maintain records on internal network.
  • Prepare social media, membership, and program data analytics reports and generate dashboard and engagement reports.
  • Coordinate logistics for internal and external meetings, including for ASHA Convention.
  • IV. Autonomy & Decision Making :

The position has the authority to work and perform duties independently; the Senior Director and team will be available for consultation and support on the goals and responsibilities related to the Unit. The position has latitude in communicating with students, volunteers, members, National Office staff and external organizations.

    V. Qualifications & Skills

    Qualifications :

    Knowledge typically acquired through :

  • 1-3 years of administrative experience
  • AA or BA degree or equivalent experience
  • Skills

  • Proficiency using tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, CRM databases (e.g., netFORUM, Salesforce), and social media platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to assist others
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; independently compose correspondence and technical documents for members and staff
  • Demonstrated ability to complete work accurately with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • VI. Universal Expectations of ASHA Staff

At ASHA, we believe in working together to make well-informed decisions that will advance the association and the discipline of human communication sciences and disorders; teamwork is vital to achieving our mission, vision, and maximizing impact. As committed stewards of the organization, we care deeply about our professions, members, and staff, and building a strong and welcoming community. We strive to ensure that everyone's voice is heard and valued. We are dedicated to helping each other grow and innovate by encouraging open communication and continual learning. Our focus is on delivering excellent service and value to members, advancing equity, and promoting diversity, inclusion, and the power of science and research.

    VII. Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)

ASHA is an equal opportunity employer. As such, it is ASHA's policy to provide equal opportunity to all qualified applicants and employees without regard for race, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), national origin, religion, marital status, disability, veteran status, age, sexual orientation or LGBT status, genetic information, citizenship, or any other factor protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws and ASHA's Bylaws.
