The Role
The Reading Specialist provides targeted, small-group or one-on-one instruction to help students strengthen their reading skills. Using evidence-based practices and progress monitoring, you’ll work with students who need additional support in decoding, comprehension, and fluency helping them unlock academic success and a lifelong love of reading.
What You’ll Do
Deliver explicit, research-based reading instruction aligned with the Science of Reading .
Support individual students and small groups with interventions tailored to their needs.
Use assessments and progress-monitoring data to guide instruction and track student growth.
Collaborate with teachers, families, and colleagues to support student learning goals.
Create a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that motivates students.
Qualifications
Delaware Certification as a Reading Specialist (required).
Strong knowledge of literacy development, reading interventions, and instructional strategies.
Ability to engage diverse learners with differentiated, student-centered approaches.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff.
Proficiency with educational technology and student information systems.
Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
