A Brief Overview
Provides high quality, individualized, family centered care to pediatric patients in the transport environment. Care and transport of the acutely ill or injured patient is supported through the use of the Paramedic scope of practice in accordance with the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) standards and hospital policies and procedures. Varied schedules to include weekend and holiday patterns.
Essential Functions
Conducts individualized age-specific patient / family assessments according to defined paramedic standards, or protocols. (Individualized refers to the patient’s developmental, cognitive, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational / family influences and physical / medical care needs.) Initial Assessment :
Demonstrates responsiveness to the organizational functions of the transport process.
Implements and evaluates actions in accordance with the individualized patient / family plan of care and patient condition / needs.
Documentation reflects accurate assessment / evaluation, modification, and patients response to therapy, changes in condition, and therapeutic interventions / procedures.
Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.

Education Qualifications
Completion of a Paramedic Program Required and
Completion of a Critical Care Paramedic program Preferred and
Experience Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of ALS experience as a Paramedic Required and
Minimum 1 year of experience with pediatric patients Preferred
Skills and Abilities
Must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure and be able to perform under stressful conditions when confronted with multiple requests, demonstrating prioritizing skills
Must be able to work in an environment which includes the use of ambulance, helicopter, and airplane patient transport vehicles that results in exposure to non-conventional motions, noise, vibration, fumes and extreme heat / cold.
Licenses and Certifications
PARAMEDIC - Paramedic – Licensed current and valid in the state of Nebraska Required and
National Registry Paramedic Required and
BCLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association Required and
ACLS Upon Hire Required and
NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation within 60 Days Required and
PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Upon Hire Required and
STABLE Course within 90 Days Required and
Pediatric Advanced Transport Course (PATC) within 1 Year Required
Must have valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record Upon Hire Required and
Completed and passed the Certified Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (CEVO) or Emergency Vehicle Operator course (EVOC) within 30 Days Required and
Must be compliant with "fit for duty" policy with the exception of the weight limit.
