Certifications : BLS, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Must-Have : Completed BSN required; EPIC experience highly preferred
Description :
The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe and competent quality care based on nursing theory and research.
Delivers patient care by incorporating a relationship-centered approach and through the application of the nursing process based on evidence-based practice and approved nursing standards.
Assesses and evaluates patient care needs while applying critical thinking skills in patient care management.
Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care.
Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.
Prioritizes all aspects of patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning for post-hospital care.
Educates patients and caregivers about their plan of care, health promotion, and disease prevention based on their readiness to learn.
Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, families, and all members of the patient care team.
Manages assignments effectively and demonstrates appropriate allocation of resources.
Role models the tenets of relationship-centered care through various actions including admission welcome and purposeful rounding.
Considers the patient's values, preferences, and cultural diversity in all aspects of care.
Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients and families.
Uses evidence-based practices to understand patients' perceptions of care.
Initiates service recovery for patients and family members who have concerns.
Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening through dialogue and actions.
Conducts purposeful hourly rounding on assigned patients addressing key needs.
Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care and identifies barriers and opportunities for improvement.
Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in the patient population served.
Implements process improvement strategies based on institutional policies and evidence-based procedures.
Engages in peer and institutional review processes to enhance quality and safety practices.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects.
Contributes to quality practices and complies with necessary compliance measures.
Utilizes institutional technology for documenting nursing practice to support performance improvement initiatives.
Performs charge nurse duties as assigned and coordinates with management to ensure resources are sufficient for patient care.
Escalates resource deficits to appropriate personnel as needed.
Demonstrates patient-focused and cost-effective approaches to patient care.
Documents accurately and thoroughly in compliance with regulatory and legal standards.
Facilitates patient throughput on a shift basis.
Contributes to the environment of care supporting colleagues and patients.
Advances clinical competence in nursing practice.
Projects a professional image and communicates with respect and empathy.
Incorporates ethical principles into decision-making for patients and families.
