Job Summary
The Operator / Engineer is responsible for monitoring, operating, and maintaining building systems and energy equipment including boilers, chillers, pumps, motors, and associated infrastructure at the Baylor Energy Complex. This role ensures all equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable regulations. The Operator / Mechanic will also perform preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and assist in system upgrades and repairs.
Schedule : 12 hour shift 4 : 30pm to 4 : 30am one week is Sun to Wed. Next week is Sun to Tue. Rotates every other week.
Essential Duties
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role (mechanical systems, plant operations, or facilities maintenance).
Working knowledge of boilers, chillers, pumps, motors, and HVAC systems.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.
EPA Refrigeration Certification and / or Boiler Operator License preferred.
Ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces as needed.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Work Conditions :
Night shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.
Exposure to noise, heat, cold, and potentially hazardous equipment or materials.
Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
