Job description

Overview : SimVentions, recognized as one of Virginia's Best Places to Work, is seeking an Entry-Level Test Automation Engineer to enhance our team focused on supporting a US Naval Weapons System. This role emphasizes collaboration and teamwork while also requiring a strong sense of independence and self-motivation. The position is based on-site at the NSWC at Dahlgren Naval Base in King George, VA, working 5 days a week.

Travel : Limited Regional

Clearance : An ACTIVE Secret Clearance is necessary for this position. Applicants selected will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information. US Citizenship is a prerequisite for obtaining a clearance.

Requirements :

  • At least 1 year of experience in software or systems testing.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate effective collaboration and reporting.
  • Experience in developing automation scripts using Python, C, C++, or Java.
  • Proficiency in Linux, with expertise in Bash and Ksh scripting.
  • A detail-oriented approach focused on delivering high-quality results.
  • Ability to succeed in a team-oriented environment to fulfill testing goals.
  • Professional demeanor and strong customer interaction abilities.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (less than 5% of the time).

Responsibilities :

  • Conduct system testing for real-time weapon systems or naval information systems, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to accomplish testing objectives and project requirements.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate system functionality thoroughly.
  • Professionally engage with customers daily, providing clear updates and addressing any concerns.
  • Preferred Skills and Experience :

  • 1+ years of experience with US Navy fleet operations and maintenance of naval weapons systems, including Formal Qualification Testing (FQT) and software / system integration testing.
  • Experience in test activities, including Configuration Management (CM) processes and Configuration Control Board (CCB) support, with a focus on requirements traceability.
  • 3+ years of testing complex software systems in US Naval or government laboratories.
  • Ability to create and document technical concepts through System Management (SM) documentation, SOPs, white papers, and technical data packages.
  • Previous work experience at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) is a plus.
  • Education : BS in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related discipline.

    Compensation : The projected annual salary range for this position is $64,500.00 - $95,000.00 (USD), based on factors including experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies.
