  • Position Description :
  • The Sexual Assault Therapist will provide and coordinate the delivery of quality professional counseling and advocacy services to adult and child survivors of sexual assault participating in services and programs administered by RAVE-Ionia / Montcalm, Inc. Duties include but are not limited to crisis intervention, individual counseling / therapy, support group facilitation, community education, emergency legal advocacy, personal advocacy as well as criminal justice support to victims of sexual assault.

    • Responsibilities :
    • 1)Coordinates and provides individual counseling sessions. Develops and implements client service plans which focus on goal-oriented empowerment strengths-based counseling offering empathy, support, advocacy, and education on the dynamics of sexual assault.

      2)Coordinates and facilitates educational and support group activities for primary and / or secondary survivors of sexual assault.

      3)Provides crisis counseling, telephone or in-person crisis intervention, emotional support and emergency criminal justice support and advocacy to survivors and their families.

      4)Completes initial intake and assessments pertaining to safety, health, and support systems, developing a personal safety plan with each participant. Prepares client case intake file and makes appropriate internal and external referrals.

      5)Completes outreach, intake, and follow-up contact activities to referred survivors and current program participants, promoting increased knowledge of resources, support systems and services for survivors.

      6)Prepares and records case observations, progress notes, service plans, and units of service, completing required statistical reports as required by agency policy and funding sources.

      7)Advocates on behalf of survivors to secure rights and services from other agencies and the criminal and civil justice systems.

      8)Provides information and referral to all survivors regarding RAVE-Ionia / Montcalm, Inc.s services, other community resources and agencies, and public awareness about survivors services.

      9)Arranges for survivors and their children to enter housing at a RAVE-Ionia / Montcalm, Inc.s safe house, other safe shelter, or permanent housing.

      10)Provides assistance in filing crime victims compensation claims on behalf of survivors.

      11)Answers and responds to crisis calls.

      12)Engages in legal advocacy activities on behalf of survivors to obtain personal protection orders and other protective orders.

      13)Participates in assigned community awareness activities, which may or may not take place during regular business hours.

      14)Promotes increased learning and teamwork to ensure clients receive quality services by attending and participating in case reviews, internal meetings and attending conferences and workshops as deemed appropriate by the supervisor.

      15)Participates and serves as representative to community groups and organizations.

    • Experience / Training :
    • 1)Masters Degree required in social work, counseling, psychology, or another related field.

      2)Previous experience and training on the dynamics of sexual assault and child sexual abuse.

      3)Previous experience and training in the provision of counseling, crisis intervention, and group dynamics.

      Job Type : Full-time

      Pay : $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
