A Free Bird is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in New York City, dedicated to empowering children diagnosed with cancer through the arts. From painting to poetry, music to theater, we provide young fighters the freedom to express themselves creatively as part of their healing journey.

Role Summary

We're looking for a creative, strategic, and motivated Social Media Marketer to join our dynamic marketing team. In this role, you’ll shape our digital voice, grow our online presence, and help tell the stories of the children we serve. You'll have the opportunity to make a real impact while building your portfolio and professional skills in a mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

Develop and implement social media strategies aligned with marketing and organizational goals
Research trends, competitor activity, and platform updates to stay ahead of the curve

Content Creation

Create engaging, original content for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and TikTok

Collaborate with graphic designers and video editors to bring ideas to life

Community Management

Respond to comments, DMs, and mentions with professionalism and care

Foster relationships with followers, influencers, and partner organizations

Campaign Execution

Plan and run social media campaigns, contests, and promotions

Track campaign performance and suggest ways to optimize future efforts

Analytics & Reporting

Use tools like Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, or Later to monitor performance

Provide regular reports with metrics, insights, and data-backed recommendations

Paid Advertising (Optional)

Assist in setting up and optimizing paid social media campaigns (Meta, Google, etc.)

Brand Advocacy

Identify and collaborate with brand ambassadors and supporters

Encourage and share user-generated content that aligns with our mission

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Proven experience managing social media for a brand, nonprofit, or personal portfolio

Strong grasp of platform best practices (Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Facebook, TikTok, etc.)

Excellent written communication and storytelling skills

Familiarity with scheduling tools (e.g., Buffer, Later, Hootsuite)

Analytical mindset with a passion for data-driven decisions

Experience with paid advertising and SEO / social analytics is a bonus
