General Overview
A project foreman is responsible for managing electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting withing commercial and industrial settings. They are also responsible for managing, tracking, coordinating, scheduling, and reporting jobsite conditions and / or issues. The project foreman reports to the project manager, superintendent and Director of Field Operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintains compliance with all OSHA, Carlton Electric and other customer safety requirements and policies.
- Completes work with a focus on safety, quality, and a sense of urgency
- Perform skilled laboring duties related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems and equipment.
- Supervises, mentors, and trains all levels of apprentices and journeymen.
- Performs and delegates planning and layout using Carlton Electric SOPs.
- Conducts weekly toolbox talks and safety inspections.
- Completes required daily and weekly paperwork and processes, including time sheets, daily logs, 3-week look ahead planner, labor productivity tracking, goal setting, tool box talks, JHAs, site logistics planning, material ordering, etc.
- Coordinates with general contractors, subcontractors, vendors and other trades.
- Uses and trains other on the use of various hand tools, site tools and safety equipment as needed on the job site.
- Maintain tools and equipment and keep parts and supplies in order.
- Uses knowledge of circuitry and electrical theory to communicate to contractors, owners, design teams, subordinates, and other trades.
- Uses knowledge of the national electrical code to communicate to contractors, owners, design teams, subordinates, and other trades.
- Perform all aspects of electrical planning, installation and troubleshooting.
- Displays a working knowledge of special systems such as lighting control systems and fire alarm systems.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience as a licensed JW (minimum 7 years overall experience in the trade).Must demonstrate professional customer service skills, both verbal and written.Must possess a valid drivers license and pass a motor vehicle record screening.Must be OSHA 30 certified or willing to acquire within 6 months.Must be able to pass a drug screen at any given point in time.Must be able to pass a background check.Must be self-motivated, teachable, punctual, respectful, able to follow directions and be an ideal team player.Must have own personal tools including hand tools and required power tools.Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel preferred.Working knowledge of Bluebeam preferred.Familiarity with computer-based time card systems preferred.Physical Demands
Sitting, standing, kneeling, walking for prolonged periods of time.Be able to walk at speeds of up to 3 miles per hour.Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling up to 100 pounds.Ability to bend at waist, hips, and knees, maneuver on a ladder (3 / 4 legged and extension ladders) for a prolonged period.Possess the ability to talk, hear, and see well either naturally or with correction.Possess the ability to focus and concentrate on a task for long periods of time.Ability to maintain a calm and focused mental state, especially in high-pressure or emergency situations.Capacity to think clearly, rationally, and quickly when troubleshooting electrical systems or responding to unexpected issues.Capable of managing stress effectively, maintaining composure and focus throughout the workday.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job.Working Conditions
Sometimes hot, cold, wet, muddy, humid, windy and dry conditions depending on time of year.Must wear personal tools while working (tool harness, or belt).Ability to work from different heights such as on ladders and lifts.Potential to work in restricted areas such as manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, trenches, attics, vaults, switchgear rooms and more.All employees must always wear Carlton Electric required PPE (gloves, glasses, hard hats, safety boots).Potential to work overtime and night shifts, sometimes on short notice.Must be okay with working in areas ranging, but not limited to Colorado Springs to Fort Collins.Carlton Electric does not discriminate against any protected category when determining salary and compensation for an employee.
