Job description

Position Summary

The Farm Manager Team Lead is responsible for leading a team of Farm Managers and administrative assistants while actively managing a portfolio of farmland properties. This role ensures the delivery of exceptional farm management services to clients by aligning operational decisions with each farmland owner's goals. As a licensed farm broker, the Team Lead also supports business development, brokerage activities, and compliance across the business line.

Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of Farm Managers, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Provide guidance on complex farm management issues and client relationships.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and professional development planning.
  • Ensure team adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Farm Management

  • Oversee a portfolio of farm accounts, ensuring high standards of service and client satisfaction.
  • Secure farm management agreements through prospecting, analysis, and relationship-building.
  • Determine and implement the goals of farmland owners.
  • Develop and maintain farm lease agreements with qualified farm operators.
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate operations and communicate findings to clients.
  • Review and submit periodic financial reports and facilitate client communications, including recommendations, updates, and approvals.
  • Oversee distribution of funds from accounts per client instructions.
  • Meet regularly with farm operators to discuss lease terms, crop planning, land maintenance, and operational matters.
  • Brokerage & Compliance

  • Maintain an active real estate broker license and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Support brokerage activities including land sales, acquisitions, and lease negotiations.
  • Serve as a resource for the team on brokerage-related matters.
  • Professional Development & Industry Engagement

  • Attend continuing education seminars and industry events.
  • Stay current on agricultural trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • Education & Experience

    Knowledge of :

    Agricultural principles and farm management practices.

  • Brokerage regulations and farmland transaction processes.
  • Strong agronomy skillset
  • Accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to :

  • Lead and inspire a team while managing individual responsibilities.
  • Analyze complex assignments and make informed decisions.
  • Maintain visual attention and mental concentration for extended periods.
  • Perform duties under frequent time pressures.
  • Communicate to executive leadership, other lines of business and compliance teams.
  • Education & Training :

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in an agricultural-related field.
  • Active farm managing broker license and broker license required (or willingness to obtain promptly).
  • Professional accreditation in farm management (or related fields) preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and farm management software.
  • Compensation and Benefits

    Salary offered is based on factors, including but not limited to, the job duties, required qualifications and relevant experience, and local market trends. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance.

    (Base Pay Range : $80,000 - $105,000)
