Hydraulic Excavator Operator

This position performs tasks required for the operation of hydraulic excavation equipment for the construction / upgrade of underground utilities, including communications conduit, gas, water, sewer, electric, and more. Essential functions and responsibilities include :

• Load and unload equipment in a secure and damage-free manner
• Transport associated tools, materials, and / or equipment safely
• Complete a daily inspection of equipment prior to commencing work
• In conjunction with the crew, operate the equipment to assist in placing underground utilities
• Operate equipment in accordance with company and industry standards
• Responsible for locating existing underground utilities and verifying them according to blueprints
• Identify utilities in the construction area and bore path
• Connect / stub-up conduit and wire, as required
• Dig pits, trenches, or potholes as required, including windows when crossing utilities
• Restore and / or landscape disturbed areas of the jobsite
• Accurately complete all required company documentation for each assignment (i.e., timesheet, vehicle log, expense report)
• Adhere to all established company safety policies and perform work in a safe manner
• Perform other duties as assigned to help the team complete a project

Physical demands include balancing, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, grasping, reaching, stooping, squatting, kneeling, climbing, hearing, and talking. Working conditions include exposure to varying weather conditions as the employee will be driving in all types of conditions. This position may require travel, including traveling to projects in different cities and overnight stays.
