Lead Mechanical Design Engineer role at SMC Corporation . This position is located at our US Headquarters in Noblesville, IN.
Overview
The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer defines problems, conducts research, analyzes criteria, determines solutions, and makes decisions. Much of this position's time is spent on research, solution application, and information transfers.
Responsibilities
- Managing multiple projects involving 3rd party certifications
- Create documents and test plans
- Conduct product testing
- Evaluate product testing failures and make recommendations for improvement
- Create and maintain detailed procedures and process documentation
- Acquire / repair lab equipment
- Must be detailed oriented
- Creativity, and innovation of existing departmental processes and / or existing products
- Reliability, be available to complete tasks / projects as required by internal / external customer requirements
- Communicate with various departments or with individuals directly associated with assigned tasks / projects (Verbal and Written)
- Minimal travel : mainly for training purposes, customer support / projects, potential trips to Japan, or validation trips
- Take verbal and / or written directions on tasks, training, projects, or department / company policies
- Provide verbal and or written results, a summary of tasks / projects, or requests to various persons during the execution of tasks / projects
- Produce the end product of requested tasks / projects in the form of drawings, data files, proposals, or reports
- Collect, interpret, and clarify customer requirements
- Lead projects or portions of projects
- Assist others with projects
- Provide training to engineers
- Record daily activities
- Will be assigned tasks for training and development purposes
- Other duties, as assigned to support company goals
