UM Coordinator | Pay Rate : $19.80 – $24.76 / hr. | Schedule : Remote with Onsite as Needed | Temp orary

  • Schedule : Thursday – Sunday, 4x10 schedule, with flexibility on weekdays but mandatory weekend shifts
  • Location : Houston, TX - Remote, with mandatory onsite meetings, orientation, or training as needed

Job Description :

The UM Coordinator supports accurate processing of authorizations, data entry in the Utilization Module, and non-clinical service requests to assist clinical staff and Medical Directors in making informed medical decisions. This role is primarily remote but requires onsite attendance for training, meetings, or departmental needs.

Responsibilities :

  • Accurately process and enter inpatient admissions, discharges, observation authorizations, home health services, and durable medical equipment requests
  • Respond to provider hotline calls promptly and professionally, forwarding calls to the appropriate clinical staff or departments
  • Utilize ICD-10 and HCPC codes to ensure correct processing of authorizations and referrals
  • Screen documents for key information to support decision-making for clinical staff and Medical Directors
  • Monitor reports and refer cases to UM Nurses or Managers while meeting regulatory timelines
  • Qualifications and Requirements :

  • High school diploma or equivalent (some college preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in referrals / authorization, including inpatient admission and discharge processes
  • Hands-on experience with prior authorizations and referrals, ICD-10, and HCPC codes
  • At least 1 year of experience in an insurance or managed care environment
  • Strong data entry skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

If you are hired, your base pay will be determined based on factors such as individual skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The range mentioned above is the full base pay range for the role, and hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
