Job Summary / Responsibilities
Under the supervision of assigned supervisor / manager, provides high quality patient care, for ages infant-geriatrics including documentation in accordance with hospital policies / protocols and standards of care. Based upon area of assignment, performs a variety of duties / responsibilities as noted below.
Typical Physical Demands :
Seeing, hearing, speaking, standing, walking, finger dexterity.
Continuous : stooping, forward reaching, handling.
Frequent : lifting up to 10 pounds, grasping.
Occasional : pushing / pulling maximum 50 pounds of force, lifting and carrying up to maximum 50 pounds, kneeling, crouching.
Typical Working Conditions :
Exposed to infection and disease-bearing specimens; infectious and contagious diseases; hazards of handling diseased organs and tissues; odorous chemicals and specimens; housekeeping cleaning agents / chemicals; explosive chemicals, gases and low level radiation.
Subjected to varying and unpredictable situations.
Subjected to many interruptions and long irregular hours.
Required Personal Protection Equipment : Eye protection, gown, mask, mask with face shield, non-sterile / sterile medical gloves, CAPR.
Minimum Qualifications :
A. Education / Certification & Licensure :
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English, both orally and in writing.
Minimum one (1) year work experience as a Nurse Aide; or, o Diploma or certificate as a Nurse Aide. o Diploma or certificate as a Medical Assistant. o Diploma or certificate as an Emergency Medical Technician. o Diploma or certificate as Patient Care Technician. o Nursing student having completed a semester of clinical fundamentals; or, o RN with a foreign RN license with at least (1) year acute care experience.
Nursing Aide certification may be required depending upon area of assignment.
Current BLS certification.
B. Experience :
Recent experience in an acute care setting preferred.
