Patient Ratios Mixed care- step down patients (spinal fusions, chest tubes, high flow oxygen. We do not do any CPAP, BiPAP or trach / vents in the department, they all go to PICU) are staffed 1 : 3 and basic care patients are staffed 1 : 4 Type of equipment - Phillips Monitors EMR - Meditech Typical hiring profile Skill Set Most recruited for : (Travel RNs, local CNAs and sitters) Must have : candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role. 2 years Peds acute care experience- must be comfortable with high flow oxygen, spinal fusion, chest tubes Preferred or nice to have : candidates with these skills will be considered first. Will not put new travelers- first contract- on day shift, they must be willing to do night shift. Candidates with multiple years experience in traveling are first to be considered. List typical procedures performed on unit(s) : NGTs, Foleys, TP Tubes, PIVs, phlebotomy (we do have an accuvein in the dept) Rare- but can occur occasionally- LP s.
