About Behlen Plumbing and Heating : Behlen Plumbing and Heating is seeking an experienced and dedicated Junior Plumbing Mechanic to join our team in the Commack, New York area. This is an exciting role for a motivated professional with strong foundational skills who is ready to take on independent service calls while advancing their trade expertise. We specialize in high-quality residential and commercial plumbing work.

Job Summary

This is a full-time, year-round position requiring a blend of autonomous service work and team support. The Junior Mechanic will be scheduled for independent calls based on their skillset and knowledge level, while simultaneously supporting senior mechanics on larger, more complex projects.

Core Responsibilities & Technical Skills

Independent Service Calls : Handle routine service, repair, and diagnostic calls independently, based on demonstrated knowledge and ability.

Team Support : Act as crucial support to senior Plumbing Mechanics on complex residential and commercial installations and large-scale repairs.

Troubleshooting : Apply strong trouble-shooting and analytical skills to quickly diagnose, evaluate, and resolve customer plumbing issues.

Skill Development : Actively seek opportunities to expand diagnostic, repair, and installation expertise.

Customer Interaction : Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with customers, demonstrating strong verbal communication.

Requirements & Screening

Experience (Mandatory) : Minimum of 3 years of proven, hands-on experience in Residential and / or Commercial Plumbing is required .

Licensure : Must have a clean Driver’s License .

Tools : Qualified candidates should possess their own personal hand tools essential for the trade.

Work Ethic : Must possess the reliable work ethic, time-management skills, and physical stamina required to excel in this trade.

Screening : Must pass a Criminal Background Check and Drug Test .

Work Schedule : Must be willing and able to work occasional overtime and weekends as needed.
