Environment / Regulatory Attorney

A respected Richmond law firm is seeking an Environmental / Regulatory Attorney with 6+ years of experience to join its growing regulatory, environmental, land use, and zoning practice. This position is a key component of the firm’s succession plan and offers a defined path from Counsel to Partner within four years .

Land Use & Zoning

Responsibilities :

Advise clients on environmental and regulatory compliance, permitting, land use, and zoning issues

Prepare and review regulatory filings, environmental documentation, and related materials

Represent clients before administrative bodies and regulatory agencies

Support litigation matters tied to environmental or regulatory disputes

Work closely with the current regulatory partner and gradually assume leadership responsibilities

Qualifications :

At least 6 years of experience in environmental, regulatory, or land use matters

Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills

Open to candidates from local government backgrounds ; law firm experience is not required

Ability to work effectively in a fully in-office environment

Compensation & Benefits :

Base salary : $145K–$170K , depending on experience

12% bonus based on base salary

Additional discretionary bonus potential

1800 annual billable hours

Clear path : Start as Counsel → Partner in 4 years
