Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with strong neuro experience and a current CA RN license for night shifts at a Level 2 Trauma Center.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the ICU of an acute care hospital with 12 overflow beds
  • Patient population includes high acuity neuro, cardiovascular, multi-trauma, gunshot wounds, stroke, STEMI, motor vehicle accidents, ortho, sepsis, and surgical cases
  • Facility is a Level 2 Trauma, thrombectomy-capable stroke center, STEMI receiving, CABG / Valve / IABP, and CRRT
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours : 19 : 00-07 : 00)
  • No on-call or weekend requirements
  • Floating required between ICU, PCU, and ICU overflow as well as to other facilities within the state
  • Uses Epic for charting; Epic experience required
  • Acute care hospital and Magnet designated facility
  • Responsibilities include managing high acuity patients with diverse critical illnesses and injuries
  • Must commit to working at least 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • All travelers are required to float between all facilities within the state as needed
  • Returning staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and may not reside within 50 miles of the facility
  • Any color scrubs may be worn
  • Free parking is available on site
  • Modules are required for orientation and must be completed pre-start

    • Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
  • Strong neuro background required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale, and LA Fire Card (issued within last 30 days) certifications required
  • Must provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year within the last 3 years
  • Locals accepted at a lower travel rate if residing within 50 miles of the facility
  • Pending licenses not accepted
  • First-time travelers not accepted
