Position Description

The Vice President of Operations and Strategy is responsible for leading and managing all of the geographic resident operations within the Dive & Construction Business Unit (DCBU). Currently this includes the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and California resident operations of Global, the Midwest and Southeast regions of Mainstream. The Vice President of Operations and Strategy is responsible for each operation’s Profit / Loss, the safety of its employees, and the satisfaction of the DCBU’s key and base clients. The position works with the Major Projects, Casualty, and the ROV / Technology Group in support of the regions.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Serve as a member of the DCBU senior leadership team, aligning operational goals with long-term strategy.
  • Lead and execute strategic initiatives across business units and represent the company in key partnerships and industry associations (USCG, ADCI, AGC, UCON, SCAA, ASA, etc.).
  • Mentor and guide key employees to foster leadership development and succession planning.
  • Proven track record in executive operations leadership, strategic planning, and organizational growth.
  • Experienced in managing multi-regional teams, complex projects, and stakeholder relationships.

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee regional office performance, ensuring adherence to corporate processes, safety, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate personnel, equipment, and financial goals across operations and technical service lines.
  • Drive innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement in operational execution.
  • Conduct annual site and office visits to reinforce company culture and expectations.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities for business growth.
  • Financial Performance

  • Lead preparation and management of annual budgets, forecasts, and CAPEX for DCBU operations.
  • Monitor revenue, profitability, and expenses, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
  • Oversee monthly WIP and financial reviews with finance and operations leadership.
  • Strengthen financial acumen across teams through education and process improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience in senior-level P&L management.
  • Strategic Planning & Execution

    Partner with the executive team to define yearly objectives and lead strategic planning workshops.

  • Coordinate development and communication of the annual Business Plan and performance reports.
  • Develop tools and systems to provide actionable insights to the Senior Vice President and Moran leadership.
  • Safety & Compliance

    Champion a culture of safety and compliance across all operations and project sites.

    Model and enforce operational integrity and adherence to safety standards.

    People Development

  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate a high-performing team, ensuring effective performance management and career growth.
  • Drive succession planning, hiring, and training initiatives to build organizational capability.
  • Qualifications

    Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Construction Management, or related field preferred

  • 15+ years in Marine, Maritime, or Construction Industry preferred.
  • 10+ years in increasingly progressive supervisory or management roles
  • Demonstrated experience in project or program profit / loss responsibility.
  • Knowledge / Skills

    Strong problem-solving, planning, and project management abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; effective working across teams and locations
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Physical Requirements

    Ability to work in an office environment (position is based in Seattle, WA)

  • Ability to travel on short notice.
  • Ability to travel up to 25-30% of time.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.

  • Annual salary range for candidates in Seattle, WA : $175,000 to $225,000
