Job Description
Peterson Cat has a need for a Technical Trainer & Communicator who can be based at any Peterson location.
SUMMARY
The Technical Trainer and Communicator provides a comprehensive technical employee learning and development program that enhances knowledge, skills, and performance of technical employees at the Peterson organization. Analyzes, researches, develops, designs, organizes, implements and conducts training programs. Provides technical information support inside and outside of the company. Champions a continuous learning environment. Effectiveness in this role is dependent upon competency in and knowledge of technical functional areas, practices, and process, building successful relationships, establishing credibility, and providing solutions to employees and managers.

Technical Employees Development Plans – core competences
Work with Employee Development staff to plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive training and development strategy for the Company that is consistent with the Company’s core values. Conduct learning needs assessments to identify individual, departmental, divisional and organizational training opportunities.
Work with Manager to define minimum skill proficiencies for technical positions and develop a process for evaluating incumbents for the purpose of identifying future training and career advancement opportunities.
Technical Communicator Responsibilities
Work directly with field technicians, shop technicians and customers at all locations, over phone or in person, to help solve maintenance and service problems related to earth-moving, power generation and heavy-equipment machines.
Serve as principle communication liaison with manufacturers on all technical issues and initiatives set forth by manufacturers.
Technical Curricula Development
Develop a needs analysis to identify skills / competency gaps and establish measures to track progress. Develop and executes innovative strategies to ensure the organization has the necessary skills and competencies to meet company business plans and strategy.
Assist with develop, design, coordination and implement a companywide performance management system used to evaluate employees work performance, establish future business goals, identify individual responsibilities and monitors an employee’s individual career development plan.
Provide consulting services to departments in all aspects of non-technical training and analyze training requests. Make recommendations to the appropriate Manager and coordinates training activities with other departments and outside companies.
Research, establish and maintain training vendor / partner relationships with other training agencies. Conduct cost-benefit analysis to assess utilization of outside training resources.
Establish a process for designing, identifying, delivering, coordinating, and evaluating seminars, workshops, courses, and training.
Peterson University Marketing
Work with the Peterson Marketing Department to market Peterson Universities’ training services to customers and Cat dealers.
Travel to Peterson and customer locations approximately 20% of the time.
Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree from a fully accredited college in a closely related field; and a minimum of seven years of directly related experience and / or training in the heavy equipment industry with Caterpillar experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a thorough knowledge of Caterpillar and OEM equipment, operations and parts.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
The pay range for this position is : $85,000.00 - $106,000.00 (Starting wage will depend on location, experience and education. We also offer a total compensation package in addition to base salary.)
