About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Hours per Shift : 10 : 00 PM - 6 : 00 AM

Experience : Minimum years of experience required.

License : Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in the state of Ohio.

Certifications : None specified.

Must-Have : Ability to clear metal detector daily and adhere to facility rules.

Description :

Provides professional nursing care to patients in state-owned operated facilities.

Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients.

Makes nursing rounds and takes and records vital signs.

Prepares and administers prescribed medications and ordered treatment plans.

Monitors patients in restraint situations on a timely basis.

Provides immediate medical attention to emergencies, including administering first aid.

Contacts staff physician when necessary and counsels patients regarding need for medical referrals.

Schedules, assigns, and reviews work of lower-level staff if assigned.

Participates in staff development and education.

Reviews care plans written by staff and trains and orients new employees.

Responsible for all health care of bedridden patients, making rounds and evaluating care needed.

Develops care plans and teaches healthcare principles.

Administers medication, including narcotics, and renders direct nursing care as needed.

Performs specialized procedures such as IV therapy, wound care, and suctioning.

Organizes and oversees emergency response teams.

Acts as lead worker in charge of one assigned shift in absence of higher-level staff.

Assists physician in providing diagnostic health evaluations to patients.

Performs clerical tasks, including documentation and inventory control.

Orders supplies and equipment, and maintains inventory of controlled substances.

Arranges for outpatient clinic appointments and medical examinations.

Serves as instructor on occasion and participates in problem-solving teams or groups.

Knowledge of professional nursing procedures, regulations, and policies is required.

Skills in operation of medical equipment and ability to write concise reports are essential.

Must demonstrate physical fitness and the ability to handle concrete variables.

Biennial renewal of licensure as a registered nurse is required to remain qualified.
