Occupational Health Nursing Coordinator / Occupational Health Registered Nurse
Work Location : Washington, DC
This is a part-time position and only requires 6 hours per week
Cape Fox is seeking a highly qualified professional to join our team in support of a government customer. This position is contingent upon award. Looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational and communication skills.
Nurse is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing our occupational health programs. This role involves providing healthcare services, conducting workplace hazard assessments, and promoting health and safety practices across the organization. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational and communication skills. Develop and implement occupational health policies and procedures in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations. Conduct health assessments and screenings for employees, including pre-employment, periodic, and exit health assessments.
Core Duties :
- Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing occupational health programs. This role involves providing healthcare services, conducting workplace hazard assessments, and promoting health and safety practices across the organization
- Develop and implement occupational health policies and procedures in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations
- Conduct health assessments and screenings for employees, including pre-employment, periodic, and exit health assessments
- Provide first aid, emergency care, and treatment for work-related injuries and illnesses.
- Manage and coordinate the response to infectious disease outbreaks, including COVID-19, ensuring that all health and safety protocols are followed
- Coordinate and conduct health promotion programs and activities, such as vaccinations, health education seminars, and wellness initiatives
- Maintain confidential health records for all employees, ensuring compliance with privacy laws and regulations
- Develop a transition plan with incumbent to transfer existing Patient Privacy Act Data
- Collaborate with Gallery safety officers, and department managers to develop and implement workplace
- accommodations for employees with disabilities or health conditions
- Analyze workplace injury and illness data to identify trends and areas for occupational health and safety improvement
- Serve as a liaison between employees, management, and external health providers and agencies
- Provide guidance and training to employees and management on occupational health matters, including ergonomics, mental health support, and substance abuse prevention
- Coordinate and conduct health promotion programs and activities, such as vaccinations, health education seminars, and wellness initiatives. (with the support of the staff nurse)
- Develop a transition plan with incumbent to transfer existing Patient Privacy Act Data
- Provide support and oversight to all staff nurses
- Ensure that the NGA OHS clinic is staffed during all operating hours and for previously planned special events
- Coordinator must be willing and able to function as a staff nurse when needed
Daily On-Site Services
Attend to job-related medical needs and delivering nursing assessments of minor health complaints for staff and volunteers. Occupational health monitoring on a walk-in or appointment basis shall be included in the overall firm-fixed-price of operating the clinic during regular operating hoursManaging the OHC to include ordering of supplies, equipment, and medications necessary to provide contracted servicesHeight and weight, Blood Pressure and pulse, Dispense Over the Counter (OTC) medication for minor ailments, Glucose Testing, Temperature, Vision Screening, To identify vision problems in a treatable stage, provide education, and provide a referral to an eye care provider for a comprehensive eye exam (if needed). Does not include optometry services or safety glasses prescriptionsAudiology Screening Conduct audiometric testing to assess hearing thresholds and identify changes over time for workers that may have arisen due to occupational noise exposure. If a Standard Threshold Shift is detected, provide the affected worker with specific recommendations to reduce the risk of continued hearing lossThe health unit shall have occupational health capabilities for conducting DOT physicals, HHS Drug-Testing (urine analysis), chemical exposure – medical monitoring, physical fitness, blood laboratory values, and overall general fitness to perform job duties and assignmentsCreate and maintain individual patient records for all staff and volunteersProviding individual counseling to employees on disease prevention and health promotionMaintain room for monitoring, rest and lactation within the OHCAdminister scheduling and access to additional Gallery-provided lactation roomsAssist staff with administering personal medicationAnonymously document and report encounter quantities and services provided based on category of patientEmergency Response
The Nurse staffing the OHC shall respond to all incidents that may require BLS / ACLS such as First Aid, CPR, or the use of an AED, and shall stabilize the patient while awaiting the arrival of local Emergency Medical ServicesProvide, stock, and maintain an emergency remote transport bag, including an AED, for the Nurse to bring when reporting to an emergencyThe Gallery will provide a handheld two-way radio in the OHC to enable communication from the Security Command Center (SCC) for emergency response. The Nurse shall be in possession of this handheld two-way radio and on-call at all times while staffing the clinic or special eventsThe Emergency Response area for the Nurse is all areas within the East and West Buildings and Connecting Link including the Sculpture GardenProvide this service to Gallery visitors and contractors.Vaccinations
Procure and administer Occupational Health vaccines according to guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). All vaccines will be provided on a Fee-For-Service basis at the unit prices listed in the Price Schedule in Section of the contract. Vaccines shall be administered within the OHC to all categories of Gallery staff who request the vaccine unless restrictions indicated belowAnnual flu, Tetanus / Diphtheria, Pneumococcal, and Hepatitis BTravel Immunization and VaccinationsDesign a process for providing medical guidance and assistance to staff assigned to foreign travel that adheres to CDC recommended guidelines for receiving, storing, preparing, administering, and dispensing all vaccines and travel immunizations approved by the FDAIncident Reporting : Respond to requests of information regarding incidents, emergencies, and accidents. Incidents of occupational illness and injury (other than minor First Aid) to an employee, visitor, or contractor shall be reported immediately to the SCCPrimary Nurse Functions - Perform the following additional activities :Wellness Screening Opportunities
The Primary Nurse will coordinate onsite wellness screenings offered by outside vendors for no costs. Wellness Screenings shall occur 2-4 times per year and may be either of the following types :Blood donation drives, Glaucoma screening, Employee Health fairs, Participation in the Gallery safety and / or wellness committee meetings, Roll Call PresentationsSupport the COR in the Gallery’s quarterly wellness programs by providing information for presentationsMay be asked by COR to present informational presentations to Security Officers and other AOP staff at Roll Call. Roll Call is held during OHC Operating hours at 9 : 15am and the number of presentations will not exceed four per yearTravel Requirements 0 - 10% Salary Grade Job Requirements
