Responsibilities include maintaining compliance with organizational policies and procedures, revenue cycle and financial audit guidelines, demonstrating effective computer skills, accurately performing patient check in and check out procedures, processing privileged patient health information, balancing daily receipts, responding to billing questions, scheduling patient appointments, ordering and maintaining clinical supplies, office supplies, and equipment, maintaining compliance with established safety and regulatory guidelines, participating in unit performance improvement activities, and demonstrating good customer service skills when interacting with patients, families, and visitors.
Education requirements include a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). Licensure or certification is not required. Prefer completion of an accredited medical administrative assisting program and previous experience in a medical office. Language skills include the ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before groups. Mathematical skills include the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Computer skills include the ability to enter and process data accurately. Reasoning ability includes the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
