Job Summary
The Expeditor acts as the critical link between the kitchen and the dining room. This position ensures that every dish leaving the kitchen meets the restaurant’s standards of quality, presentation, and timing. The Expeditor coordinates with chefs, servers, and runners to maintain smooth and efficient service—especially during peak hours.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate communication between kitchen and front-of-house staff.
Review each plate for accuracy, presentation, and temperature before it leaves the pass.
Ensure correct garnishes, sauces, and accompaniments are added to each dish.
Organize tickets and prioritize orders based on dining room activity and timing.
Communicate clearly with servers and runners regarding table numbers, modifications, and special requests.
Support chefs by keeping the pass clean, organized, and stocked.
Assist in managing ticket flow and pacing to maintain consistent service speed.
Notify management or chef immediately of any issues, delays, or guest allergies.
Help maintain communication and teamwork between kitchen and floor staff.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant (Italian cuisine preferred).
Strong organizational and multitasking skills under pressure.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
High attention to detail and commitment to quality and consistency.
Familiarity with POS and kitchen display systems (e.g., Toast, Micros, Aloha).
Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable working in high heat and with heavy plates or trays.
Preferred Attributes
Understanding of Italian dishes, ingredients, and terminology.
Positive, professional attitude with a focus on guest satisfaction.
Bilingual English / Italian or English / Spanish is a plus.
