Duties

During their careers, special agents carry out assignments in investigations and protection, with possible postings across the U.S. and abroad. Responsibilities include :

  • Providing protection for various protectees.
  • Conducting criminal investigations related to financial obligations of the United States.
  • Planning and implementing security designs for National Special Security Events.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Valid driver's license
  • Firearm possession and proficiency
  • Age between 21 and 37 at application (exceptions for prior federal service or veteran's preference)
  • Top Secret Clearance
  • Visual acuity of at least 20 / 100 uncorrected and 20 / 20 corrected
  • Hearing within specified limits
  • Drug testing before and during employment
  • Completion of 13 weeks at FLETC and 18 weeks at James J. Rowley Training Center
  • Willingness to accept assignments nationwide and abroad
  • Registration with the Selective Service System or exemption
