Overview
ARC Group is seeking an Environmental Professional to support our client's environmental compliance and remediation initiatives in Kansas City, KS. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including RCRA , NPDES , and SPCC .
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing environmental programs, leading audits, mentoring staff, and engaging with regulatory agencies and contractors to drive environmental excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Mentor and guide junior environmental staff on compliance systems, procedures, and best practices.
Develop and implement tools, templates, and processes to enhance environmental data collection, reporting accuracy, and compliance performance.
Conduct and manage field inspections for operating facilities and construction projects.
Lead continuous improvement of compliance programs based on audit results and regulatory updates.
Represent the company in regulatory and industry association committees addressing emerging environmental issues.
Identify and resolve compliance applicability issues through risk-based analysis and cross-functional collaboration.
Manage all environmental programs for assigned assets and projects, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
Oversee the permitting process for all environmental media (air, water, waste) from application through approval.
Evaluate and manage contractor and consultant performance to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
Coordinate and lead agency inspections, representing the company in compliance and enforcement discussions.
Collect and review environmental samples (air, water, waste) to ensure accuracy and regulatory alignment.
Participate in spill drills, tabletop exercises, and provide 24 / 7 on-call emergency response support, including reporting incidents to regulatory agencies.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
6 or more years of experience in environmental compliance, permitting, or remediation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong understanding of federal and state environmental regulations , including RCRA, NPDES, and SPCC.
Proven ability to prepare and manage permit applications, reports, and regulatory correspondence.
Excellent analytical, technical writing, and documentation skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to interpret and apply environmental regulations, technical manuals, and company policies.
Skilled in data analysis, compliance tracking, and risk assessment.
Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to train and influence others.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and environmental compliance software.
Ability to operate relevant monitoring and field equipment.
