American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced Labor and Delivery unit requiring strong circulating and newborn care skills and an active NC or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a high-acuity Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital settingPatient population includes obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater for intrapartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum care, as well as high-risk patients under 16 weeksTypical nurse-to-patient ratios are 2 : 1 with an average of 20 births in 24 hours and 30–40 admits dailyPatients may also include those seen in an obstetrical triage unit for outpatient procedures and fetal surveillanceScheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage procedures are performedUses Epic for EMR, Pyxis for medication management, and SBAR communication tools12-hour night shifts (18 : 45–07 : 15), 36 hours per week, with every other weekend required and a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduleFloating required as needed, including to the Special Maternity Care high risk OB unit and potentially other units or affiliate hospitals based on census and skill set13–26 week contracts available24 hours of unit orientation providedScrubs provided (blue)Responsibilities include circulating in the OR, performing sterile exams, providing newborn care, and supporting antepartum and postpartum patientsMay be required to precept or orient new staff members on the unitFirst-time travelers are accepted if they have substantial experience in similar settingsMust be comfortable working in a very fast-paced, challenging, and higher-acuity environment than standard L&D unitsMust work two out of three major holidays and no requested time off during orientation week is permittedRTO is limited; up to 7 days may be auto-approved if not on holidays—no additional RTO after booking is allowedTravel pairs are allowed only if assigned to different unitsCandidates within 50 miles are considered local and paid at a local rate\n \n Requirements\n
Active NC or compact RN license in hand by start date; pending accepted for considerationMinimum of 2 years Labor & Delivery RN experience required, 3 years preferredCurrent certifications : BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRPCompetency in circulating to the OR, performing sterile vaginal exams, and immediate newborn care requiredPrior experience with Epic charting requiredExperience working in a large, high-volume L&D setting requiredMust submit two professional supervisor references from within the past 12 months by start datePhysical ability to manage a demanding, fast-paced work environment\n Benefits\n
