Position summary
The Service Writer is responsible for scheduling and coordinating all service work and parts order entry for machine repairs in a manner that reflects the company’s vision of working as One Professional Team while also managing all related work order and paperwork responsibilities. Where applicable, guides the work of the Service Clerk(s).
Responsibilities
Initiates and closes all shop work orders as necessaryCreates service estimates for customers prior to beginning workCoordinates with customers regarding service estimates and approvals before work beginsSchedules and maintains records on safety training, vehicle inspections, etc.Handles all incoming calls pertaining to scheduling of shop work and customer inquiries for all shop related areasReviews work orders, warranty jobs, daily hours, and determines appropriate actionsReviews and approves daily hours on each work orderReviews service work in progress for work orders closed in shop and open in service accountingReviews all customer jobs with shop manager or designee to ensure work requested is completedComplete & submit parts exchange core reports in a timely mannerOrganize and maintain all paperwork for work orders, current library of publications, and file on POs and canceled POsCheck requisitions for proper coding; determine dollar amounts on firm ratesAssists with other duties as assigned by managerQualifications
High School Diploma or GED2 years vocational training preferred5 years experience as a technician or comparable position3-5 years administrative / clerical experience3-5 years customer service experience1-3 years sales experience1-3 years supervisory / management experiencePhysical Demands & Competencies
